Cape May Thanksgiving Dinner

What's Thanksgiving without a home cooked meal? Well, if you're spending turkey day in Cape May, you can forget about the basting and roasting and let some of the area's top chefs serve you a turkey dinner that will rival Mom's.

Just make sure to make reservations ahead of time. Here are the restaurants open for dinner on the big day:

Aleathea's gives you the option of taking home leftovers from your turkey dinner. For $90 two people can feast on a full turkey with all the trimmings, then pack up what's left for sandwiches the next day. Or take your choice of Beef Tenderloin, Turkey, Chicken Marsala, Crabcake or Salmon entrees served with veggies and salad. Prices vary, depending on entree. Desserts and appetizers are a al carte. 2 to 7PM. Note: if you want your very own turkey, be sure to call to reserve by November 20th.

The Blue Pig is cooking up a a special four course pix fixe Thanksgiving menu. Included are options like warm duck confit or baby shrimp mouse, harvest salad, free range turkey with apple sage stuffing, prime rib, salmon with crab stuffing or veal osso bucco and desserts like pumpkin cheesecake and ginger mousse. The special menu will be served from 3PM to 7PM on the big day. The price is $38 for adults, $16 for kids.

The Ebbitt Room will be serving up an elegant Thanksgiving feast that features starters like smoked halibut and clam chowder, a crab-filled brioche or grilled shrimp. For the main course there's roasted free range turkey, filet of beef, pork rib roast or bacon wrapped monkfish. Dessert includes toffee pudding and white chocolate cheesecake. The special menu's served from 2 to 7PM Thanksgiving day.The price is $68.

The Merion Inn features a special Thanksgiving Day menu from 1 to 8PM. Get Roast Turkey with all the trimmings including old fashioned stuffing and cranberry relish for $21.95. (with appetizer and homemade dessert - $26.95). If you're not in a turkey mood, there are nine other options to choose from including Pork Medallions, Prime Rib of Beef, Merion Crab Imperial and even a Veggie Lover's dinner. Price for a three course dinner plus holiday relish tray ranges from $23.95 to $37.95.

Union Park is serving up a scrumptious Thanksgiving Day prix fixe dinner featuring a traditional American turkey dinner, herbed roasted prime rib or salmon with lump crab. Also included is a starter of pumpkin bisque or soup du jour, a choice of field greens with chevre or a salad of pear, mache and rouqefort and pumpkin pie or a dense, flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Price is $36 for adults and $15 for kids. You can also order from the regular menu. They'll be serving dinner from 3 to 7:30PM.

Lucky Bones is taking the day off - no dinner served that day. But the folks there will be manning the bar starting at 8PM Thanksgiving Day night - so you can head over there for your turkey day night cap.
