A Little Music with your Dinner??
Posted 8/18/08 This month, you can experience romantic piano music with dinner, reggae with your salsa and munch a light lunch during a jazz jam session. Definitely a “Two for One’ way to enjoy yourself and still keep within your budget. The Mad Batter on Jackson St. features live jazz with Second Seasojn on Wednesday nights. The energetic duo is often joined by Cape Island’s own Lois Smith and her vocal renditions as well as numerous surprise guests. Thursday nights at 6:30PM, take part in Open Mike night with singer–songwriter Tom Werkhauser. Tom also strolls through the restaurant with his guitarearly Friday evenings. Late Friday and Saturday nights smooth music is on the menu, by a variety of musicians. Geno White entertains Sunday evenings starting at 5:30PM with a focus on jazz and rock fusion. You can also catch Geno White at the Moonfish Grill Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings during prime dinner time. Starting at 6:30PM, Thursday, the Geno White Trio performs. Friday is Geno White Solo Acoustic Guitar night. Saturday, the Trio is back. You can dine at the Peter Shields Inn overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to the popular music of pianist Kahlil Gunther. Gunther's been the house pianist at Peter Shields for several years. In the mood for some dancing? On Thursday afternoons starting at 5PM, DJ Rick Rock spins platters live at Cabanas on Beach Ave. Cabanas also boasts the ultimate in Reggae Wednesday nights with reggae icons Rolly Gray and George Wesley.There's a live Motown band playing into the wee hours Thursday nights. On Friday, Hippie/Happy Hour with host Will Knapp; Acoustic Mayhem on Sunday nights. To round out the entertainment, Cabanas features live rotating bands during the later hours on weekend nights. Karioke Karnivale is a special Monday feature starting at 5:30PM. Martini Beach is located directly above Cabanas. Keith Rippey plays cocktail piano music Thursdays through Sunday evenings. Monday beginning at 10PM is Terryoke/Karioke night. Apparently they get some “ name “ performers to participate, including hot star surprise, Anne Hathaway. Bloody Marys, located in the Atlas Hotel along the ocean, presents a one man guitar show with Billy Jack, which includes audience participation and lots of fun Friday and Saturday evenings. The tropical seaside theme restaurant also has dance music with a DJ later Saturday night. Cape May artist George Mesterhazy performs at the piano starting at 5:30PM every night at the Merion Inn restaurant. On Tuesday nights George features his own trio and plays host to jazz night with some very special guests….they take requests too. Dinner and a Show is the highlight entertainment at Alethea’s restaurant. Monday nights. $40 affords you a seat for a full dinner and the farcical production of “Temperance,” a spoof on drinking during the Victorian era. It all starts at 6:30PM. Tickets at the door. Sundays, 2 to 6PM, enjoy Chris Sooey at the piano. If you come back for dinner during the week Doug Williams will be playing for your pleasure Tuesday through Saturday nights.
