An Evening in Paris
Wear your best chapeau and head over to Congress Hall for Friday night's big do. The Center for Community Arts annual fundraiser goes Parisian. Enjoy a French themed evening complete with buffet supper and a chapeau challenge - winner of the best hat gets a prize!! The Dr. Cheeko Band provdies live music all evening. The festivities begin at 7:30PM. Cost is $35 per person. Tickets in advance or at the door. (609) 884-7525.
Nun Plunge
If you missed last Saturday's Polar Plunge in Wildwood Crest, you're in luck - you have a second chance to jump into the cold, cold March ocean this Saturday at 2PM in Cape May, in the company, no less, of some good sisters.
Marsh Music
Friday night's also a good night to hear Ben Arnold - who draws his inspiration from Dylan, Randy Newman and Van Morrison. He's playing at the Wetland Institute's Friday night Marsh Music series. It starts at 8PM. Bring the kids - there's childcare available and refreshments. Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor. Tickets at the door are $8 for members, $10 for nonmembers. (609) 368-1211
Nightfall along the Tuckahoe River
If you're feeling a little cooped up, take a Sunday evening drive up to the Tuckahoe Wildlife Management area for an evening walk through beautiful marshland. Many birds call the marshes along the Tuckahoe river and Great Egg Harbor river home - at least for the winter. Look for birds like Northern Harriers, Short-eared owls and Bald Eagles. You don't have to know a thing about birding - the naturalists from the Cape May Bird Observatory will lead the way. The walk starts at 5PM. Meet on Griscom Mill Rd, off route 50 north of Tuckahoe at the parking lot at Corbin City Hall. Cost is $6 members, $10 for non-members.
