December 2006 Best Bets

Posted 11/27/06

Cape May really does do Christmas up big. In addition to the many schedule tours and events, holiday trolley tours of the town's pretty light displays will be running through January 1.

We Love Our Parades

Most local folks in the area either march in the West Cape May Christmas parade or stand on the sidelines and cheer as the floats and marching bands pass by.

Get a good spot along Broadway or Perry st. Saturday evening, December 2. The parade starts at 5PM by the West Cape May Town Hall on Broadway.

Holiday House Tours

It's that time of year when bed and breakfast inns hang up the holly and mistletoe, decorate drop dead gorgeous Christmas trees, then open their doors for the world to see.

You can tour many of these beautifully decorated inns on the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts' three Cape May Candlelight tours December 2, 9 and 16 from 5:30-8:30PM. Or take the shorter Lamplighter tours that go on throughout the month of December.

You can also wander a littler father north and do the Dennisville tour of private homes on December 16 - one of our favorites as well.

Shop Till You Drop

If you want to really get into the spirit of the holidays, do some shopping during Cape May Merchants' Candlelight Hospitality Nights. On the evenings of December 7 and 8, shops throughout Cape May will offer shoppers all sorts of delicious drinks and nibbles. It's like one big block party.
