January 2007 Best Bets

January is as quiet as Cape May gets all year. If you crave lots of action, you won't find it here. But if you're looking for peace and quiet, this is your place.
Down Home Potluck Dinner
One of our favorite winter events - Cape May Cooks, Cape May Sings - is morphing into a new time and place. Bring your favorite covered dish (filled with something yummy, of course) and head over to the Center for Community Arts' Martin Luther King's birthday on January 15th at 6PM. It takes place at Cape May Elementary School on Lafayette. st. After everyone chows down, there'll be music by Elephants Everywhere and Carl Behrens and CCa will unveil three new murals. What more could you want on a chilly January evening?
Treat Yourself - Get a Massage
What better month for a little R and R? Book a room at a B&B, bring a good novel to read by the fireplace and take long quiet walks along the beach. Afterwards, make sure to round out your January escape with a massage. Make an appointment at Cape
May Day Spa or at The Well Center for Massage or Touch
and Go Massage. The good news is - they're all open this month!
Plunge into the Ocean
If you'd rather jump into the ocean, by all means, be our guest. Wildwood's caught the Polar Plunge Fever. Strip and plunge into the cold ocean near the Wildwood Convention Hall January 13th at 1PM - all to raise money for a good cause. Or just go and watch everyone else do it. that's what we're going to do. (Check back for photos!)
New Exhibit
A nationally known photographer Wendell White opens an exhibit of his works right here in Cape May. Included are images from Cape May's Franklin Street School. See it at the Carriage House at the Emlen Physick Estate. And yes, all you history buffs, the Physick Estate is open all month.
