Cape May Area Best Bets
July 2 - July 8

It's a tough call when the 4th of July falls on a Wednesday. Is the official holiday weekend the first weekend or the second? And if you can't stretch that weekend to include Wednesday, you'll miss the big fireworks displays...
Fireworks
Of course you must go to the fireworks on the 4th of July. But here in Cape May, if you plan it right, you can see not one but three different fireworks shows. Here's the plan. On Tuesday, July 3 head over to the Cape May Lewes Ferry Terminal with your favorite lawn chair. Get there about 7:30PM for a good spot. The fireworks will be exploded from a barge about 9PM.
Wednesday, July 4th, bring a blanket and arrange yourself anywhere along Cape May's beach about 8PM. The fireworks start at dusk.
Just as the grand finale is exploding, grab your beach blanket, jump in the car and head for Wildwood - where the fireworks along the Wildwood Boardwalk at Pine Avenue don't start until 10PM. Happy 4th!
Hometown Bazaars
Hankering for an old fashioned carnival? What about a civic club bazaar? Both Cape May Point and Cape May's Our Lady Star of the Sea School are cooking up something big this weekend. Thursday and Friday evening, head over to Star of the Sea at Lafayette and Ocean sts. for carnival rides and cotton candy. Saturday, the place to be is the Cape May Point firehouse from 8:30AM-1PM for the civic club's annual bazaar.
Parades
Don't miss Cape May's annual 4th of July parade this Saturday. It starts at 1PM on Beach Avenue and Philadelphia Avenue. If you just love parades, head over to Historic Cold Spring Village Sunday at noon as a fife and drum corps leads a parade around the Village grounds.
