Cape May County Memorial Day Festivities

USO Tribute

In the mood for a little nostalgia?? Make time on Memorial Day weekend for North Wildwood's tribute to the USO Saturday, May 29th.

From 1 to 6 PM, Olde New Jersey Avenue between Spruce and Chestnut Avenues, will be rocking with music from the '40's and other war eras.

There'll be an Andrews Sisters look a like contest, a Betty Grable look alike contest, a chance to show off your jitterbug skills, and even a 1940's best dressed contest.

Cape May county veterans representing wars of the past will get special proclamations and visitors can see the cockpit of a World War II era transport plane. The day is cosponsored by the City of North Wildwood and the Cape May County United Way.

Schedule of events:

• 1 to 2PM - Street entertainment by the Duffy String Band, the Triage Trio consisting of Harry Murray on bass, Bill Garton, clarinet and Bobby Quaile, banjo; the Mummers chorus, the Jenny Ayres Dancers, a stiltwaker dressed as Uncle Sam, and clowns.
• 2 to 3PM - Formal ceremony honoring veterans of previous wars.
• 3 to 5PM- Music by Richard Ludwig’s Performing Arts Center Big Band and contests for the public with prizes.
• 5 to 6PM -A red, white and blue nostalgic performance by Fine Life Presentations
