Cape May NJ Welcomes Captain Kidd

July 26, 2004 - The notorious pirate Captain Kidd comes ashore in Cape May this Sunday to try to find his buried treasure.

He's enlisting the help all of children ages 3 to 10 years old. Any child who wants to help the Captain in his quest for his long lost treasure should meet him at Cape May Convention Hall at 1PM Sunday.

From there, the treasure seekers will march down the promenade to the exact spot where the treasure is purportedly bured.

(Sources say that spot is between Windsor and Congress avenues on the beach.)

It's expected that more than 300 kids will join in the hunt.

It's the 41st year that Captain Kidd has come to Cape May's beach in search of his treasure. There's no charge to take part. And the rule is - finders keepers. Over $400 worth of booty and gift certificates will be up for grabs.

The Captain's visit is sponsored by the Cape May Department of Civic Affairs. Call (609) 884-9565 for more information.
