Cape May Point Run

CAPE MAY POINT, N.J.– While birders flock to Cape May Point, runners converge on the Point on the third Saturday in June every year for the the Cape May Point Five-Mile Run.

Now in its 27th season, the annual run, scheduled this year for Saturday, June 18, 2005, takes runners through a flat and fast course with breathtaking views of the Cape May Point Lighthouse and scenic Lake Lily.

Top finishers in the five-mile run, beginning at 9AM , and the two-mile fun run, starting at 8:30AM, will receive a trophy and other awards, including ribbons.

Entrants will receive t-shirts while they last, and refreshments after the race at the historic Cape May Point Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 fire hall, located on Yale Ave., the same location where the race commences.

The event will occur – rain or shine.

Registration is limited to 1,000 entries – early registration is recommended. Runners can enter various categories, based on age and sex. Special categories include masters, golden masters, beach patrol, U.S. Coast Guard, firefighters, police officers and Cape May Point residents.

Registration is $15 in advance by mail, or in person Friday evening, June 17th, at the fire hall from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30PM. Registration is $20 on race day and begins at 7:00AM. All proceeds benefit the Cape May Point Volunteer Fire Company No.1. For more information or to register, contact (609) 884-1087.
