Third Annual Cape Island Scarecrow ContestPosted 8/6/06 The Center for Community Arts invites anyone living or doing business on Cape Island to enter their own verions of a scarecrow. To participate, build an original scarecrow at your home or business, organization or school location. "Be creative and have fun," said Annie Mullock, this year's contest and Harvest Fair coordinator. "Your imagination is the limit!" Entry forms can be picked up at CCA's office, 712 Lafayette St. Cape May. They're due by September 8. Judging will take place between September 11 and 14, and the winners will be announced at the Harvest Country Fair at Rea's Farm in West Cape May on September 16th. The Fair is the opening event of the MidAtlantic Center for the Arts annual Food and Wine Festival in Cape May. Photos of all entries will also be displayed at the Fair. Prizes will be awarded in Business, Organization/School and Individual/Family categories. Call (609) 884-7525 for more info. Last year's first place winners inlcuded Laura McPherson's Fish head Screcrow and Cape Island Gardens' Frankenstein wedding party scarecrows.
