Cape May 2007 Nun Plunge

Posted 3/25/07
Cape May, NJ - It was a cold, cold March day on Cape May's beach. The temperature had dropped more than ten degrees from the day before. But that didn't stop the 2nd annual Nun Plunge from taking place.

While onlookers bundled up in hats and scarves, several dozen students, supporters and faculty of Our Lady Star of the Sea School lined up in their bathing suits, ready to race into the nippy water. Sister Linda (right) a computer science teacher at Star of the Sea, was one of the Sisters of St. Joseph who actually did the plunge.

Once in, no one stuck around too long. The race out of the ocean was even faster than the race in.

A few brave souls did go back for a second dip. Most headed back to the promenade for cocoa or coffee.
