Cape May Designer Show House
Posted 7/17/07
Interior designers spent months transforming almost two dozen different areas in the house - about 4,700 square feet of space in all.
The designers come from as far as Havana. Pedro Rodriguez arrived in the United States from Cuba in 1962. He designed the first floor sunroom in a striking black and white and rattan look.
Some of the designers are local folks, like Cape May landscape architect John Schneider, who did the new gardens and Nora Pascarella, from the Cape May Linen Outlet, who designed a bedroom and porch. A total of two dozen different designers added their own signature styles to the 1847 Memucan Hughes House. See the end result through October 14 at 608 Hughes St. in Cape May. Hours: 10AM to 3PM daily, 7-9PM Monday through Friday. Admission: $20. All proceeds benefit the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts.
