Cape May, NJ — Barbara King, who's been compared to Sarah Vaughn by the Chicago Sun-Times, takes center stage Friday night, during the kick off of this spring's Cape May Jazz Festival.

King hails from Brooklyn and has wowed audiences at New York City nightspots like Birdland, B. Smith’s, The Water Club, Tavern on the Green, and The Lenox Lounge. She's also performed in Greece, Japan, Dubai, Eastern Europe, Kingston and Jamaica.

She includes both original compositions as well as popular standards and has performed with jazz greats like Rufus Reid, Kirk Whalum, Akira Tana, and Onaje Alan Gumbs.

She's also performed with noted pianist Dino Kartsonakis at Carnegie Hall and with pop star Patti Labelle.
