Bill Makes Waves
Cape May, NJ — Rough and tumble waves, leftovers from Hurricane Bill, hit Cape May this weekend, keeping beach goers out of the water.
Only surfers were permitted to venture into the rough seas.
Everyone else was banned from the surf on this beautiful August weekend. Vacationers flocked to the beach anyway to watch the waves crash.
Red flags were up at all the beaches, signalling no bathing. The waves offshore were in the ten foot range, enough to slow down boat traffic as well.
The Cape May area lucked out - Hurricane Bill's real fury passed us by and headed to Newfoundland instead. We didn't any of the storm's heavy rains or winds.
But the Jersey shore did get a weekend of ferocious waves.
