Cape May's April Heat Wave
Cape May, NJ — It was bathing suit weather - in April. Atlantic City hit a record 91 degrees Wednesday. Cape May's beach saw some heavy action, thanks to the unusually warm weather and local schools' spring break.
Who needed Florida or Mexico? Local kids on their spring hiatus headed for Cape May's Cove Beach.
If you didn't check the calendar, you'd swear it was July.
Many of the beach visitors were Cape May County residents. Along with the students, weekend workers who had the day off made a beeline for the beach.
A few folks took impromptu trips from Philly and elsewhere to soak up some of the early season sun.
The ocean was another story. With the water temperature just breaking 50, big toes were all that got wet Wednesday.
