Chillin' on the Ferry
Cape May, NJ — Hot weather temps soared to a new record this week - 99 degrees. For some, that's too hot even for the beach.
If you want to take a quick, easy break from the heat and humidity, just jump on the Cape May Lewes Ferry.
For $18 round trip as a walk on passenger, you can take a cool, calming three hour bay cruise.
Watch some sea birds. Sip a cold drink. Relax in a deck chair.
The ferry leaves the North Cape May terminal through the Cape May Canal. For 80 minutes you'll be cruising the Delaware Bay.
When you get to Lewes, Delaware there's a ten minute turn around time to get cars off and on and then you're back on the water again. (Or take the shuttle bus to Lewes for some exploring and take a later ferry home.)
If you're driving your car onto the ferry, you'll need reservations and the cost is higher.
But just walk on and no reservation needed.
So, if it gets a little too hot and muggy on land, pack up your sunscreen and go for a little ferry cruise. You'll be back in time for dinner.
