Cape May's First Snowfall

Cape May, NJ — It was a bit of deja vu, pulling onto the snowy street yesterday.
We flashed back to that February afternoon when The Blizzard of 2010 brought this little island to a standstill.
But not this time.
Just a normal December snowfall, glazing all the Christmas decorations and making houses extra festive.
Homes along Broadway in West Cape May looked stunning.
The inch or so of snow was just enough to highlight the houses without causing a traffic nightmare. That's the way we like it.
Our favorite snow spot, Cove Beach, was back in winter mode, after a season of sunbathers. Not even a surfer in sight yesterday. Amazing. Loved the way the dune grass was peeking through the snow.
Here on Cape Island, we normally get our first snowfall of the season in December. So this one's right on schedule. Other parts of the country might be coping with unusual weather conditions, but so far so good here.
Keep your fingers crossed and enjoy this pretty, peaceful holiday snowfall while it lasts.
You just never know what Mother Nature has in store for us later on this winter.
