No license is needed for saltwater in NJ. However you do need one for freshwater

Jim's Bait shop in Cape May should help you with all your needs.  The cape may point is good for surf fishing. So are the charter and party boats. I use the Stalker or the Miss Chris - you can check out there websites. If you feel like a 1/2 hour drive, I would go to 19th Street in ocean city. I do all my surf fishing there

I'm going on a canyon trip in late October. Are the tuna still around that late in the year? What else would be biting? Any mahi or wahoo?

I was told you can catch sea herring this time of year. I never heard of it before and was wondering if it is any fun. Can I catch them from the surf in Cape May and if so - what part. What would I use? I have spot rigs with little floats - would that work?

When is the best time to get good size weakfish form the surf. I've heard cape may point is good but I don't really know where that is. I've tried the ferry inlet but no luck.

Are there a good amount of tog at the cape may jetties?

I thinking about going on 8 hr. trip on the Pory IV out of Cape May. Does anybody know how much it costs and if it is crowded every day? I don't want to spend 8 hours not catching fish or being tangled with other lines all day. What bait should I use? ( minnows, squid, etc.)

I like to surf fish. I caught a couple of kingfish earlier in the year. I usually throw them back because I thought they were just a bait fish. But i was told that they are good eating. Is this true? Where in Wildwood and Cape May can I catch enough for a meal?
