Re: Going for Stipers Sat 4-26 at the Point

Good luck. There was a shortage of clams last weekend. Any word on if they are back in the bait shops? What time is the next high tide?

I hope they have them. High tide is 8:44:

And then there is this nice little site of water temp bouts in real time:

Thanks, good luck. I am going to go out on Saturday as well.

Struck out, Dan. Went near the gun bunker. Used clams. Small fish hitting clams. Caught one sand shark. Getting discouraged. I have tried for 3 years, have yet to catch a Striper. I have caught everything else, but no striper.

Stopped by the Point this morning just to check it out and there was not much happening.      Checked it out again Saturday night.   There were a lot of guys fishing but nothing being caught.   Right around sunset I did see some small pods of bait fish with a few small swirls around them.   Could of been small bass or Hickory Shad.

Water is still very cold, but with a few more warm days it should turn on.   The water is about 10 degrees colder than the same time last year.

I did notice that the sand shark I caught was really fat. I do not recall ever seeing one that fat. Either it is a really lazy fish that drinks beer too much, or there are a ton of baitfish around. I vote for the latter.
