In the Spirit - Holiday Lights
Posted 12/13/07 Cape May, NJ - Every year, we go on our annual holiday quest, looking for the most outrageous, the most colorful, the most exuberant, the most daring demonstrations of holiday decorating. And, every year, Harry Thomas in Cold Spring, wins hands down.
His front yard along Seashore Road (just north of Historic Cold Spring Village) incorporates every single possible holiday motif known to humankind. He's partial to snowmen. But look around and you'll see plenty of Santa's and Candy Canes and Victorian ladies and even a penguin or two or three. He's made many of the wooden figures himself, as well as the huge ice rink set right in the middle of the yard.
Bright lights outline every window and door of the ranch house. The gazebo becomes the North Pole for a couple of weeks. Candy canes line every pathway.
Thank you Harry. These are trying times. It's nice to know someone out there is working overtime to make us smile.
