Cape May Point, NJ – Cape May Point residents have a surprise waiting for them when they return to the beach this season. The Cape May Point General Store is being taken over by some well known local restaurateurs.
Deanna Ebner, co-owner of the popular Quahog’s Seafood Shack in Stone Harbor, is literally moving in. She’ll be serving breakfast and lunch to Cape May Point locals and all who want to trek to the Point for a meal. She’s getting some top notch assistance.
Ebner’s husband, Lucas Manteca, is the executive chef at the Ebbitt Room. He’s helping to develop the General Store’s new menu. Manteca is a big proponent of farm to table dining, using local foods whenever possible. The couple owned Sea Salt in Stone Harbor before Manteca took the top spot at the Ebbitt Room.
So what’s on the menu? It’s still a work in progress but Ebner says of course there will be eggs and pancakes and .. avocado. Lots of avocado. She’s a California girl after all.
She hopes to have the coffee bar portion of the store up and running by Easter weekend. The restaurant seats 30 inside and 30 on the patio.
