Governor Christie comes to Cape May

Cape May, NJ -  New Jersey’s Governor is coming to Cape May August 28th. The city of Cape May announced that Governor Chris Christie will hold a news conference on the Washington Street Mall around noon time.  Afterwards, the governor will take a stroll along the mall and mingle with tourists.

Several streets will be closed during the visit.

A press release from the city of Cape May says the Governor’s reason for visiting is to gain  “a personal, first-hand status report of the actual outcomes of the State’s comprehensive and integrated programs focusing on the recovery efforts from last October’s Hurricane Sandy devastation.”

The governor wants to find out from residents, business owners, and visitors how state programs have worked, following last year’s hurricane.

Cape May largely was spared from the devastating effects of that storm.
