Villas NJ House Explosion

Villas, NJ – This was all that was left of a house on Atlantic Avenue in the Villas after an explosion and fire leveled the structure this evening.

Lower Township police and Cape May County officials, including the Major Crimes Unit,  were on the scene, trying to determine the cause of the house explosion.

Firefighters from Villas, Town Bank and Erma responded to the fire. Two residents  were injured. They had to be medevaced from the scene by helicopter to a Pennsylvania trauma center.

An entire block of Atlantic Avenue was evacuated.

One early responder said the front windows of the Atlantic Avenue house were actually blown right into the street. Officials say neighbors helped in the initial rescue effort.
