Cape May Crab and Beer Festival Photos 2014

Cape May, NJ – The normally sedate Emlen Physick Estate on Washington Street was overrun with crowds Saturday at lunchtime looking for two things: crabs and beer. First, they had to wend their way through lines of all the typical vendors found at crafts and flea market fairs.

Then, the hungry masses lined up not once but twice . The first line was to buy tickets for $10 crab cake sandwiches and $20 crabs in the shell. The second line was to redeem those tickets for food and beer.

You could tell immediately who had attended the two previous crab festivals – they brought their own beach chairs and staked out spots under the trees. One man from a local campground said he had carefully guarded his group’s spot under a tree since 10 in the morning.

Most of his group went for the crab cakes, but boxes of crabs were also available.  The event was sponsored by the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities.
