Lunch Midweek January 2015 in Cape May?

Cape May, NJ – Try to find lunch in the middle of January in the middle of the week. Not easy in Cape May. Our old January stand by, The Blue Pig, was closed for lunch. The Pilot House, another January sure thing – undergoing renovations.

Yes, we could have jumped in the car and driven to two of our favorites – Lucky Bones or  5 De Mayo.
Both, on the edge of town, stay open all year.

But couldn’t we find something open right in downtown Cape May on a Wednesday afternoon in January?

That’s how we stumbled into Delaney’s, an Irish themed pub that’s taken over the old Jackson Mountain Cafe on the Washington Street Mall.

On a cold afternoon, the stick to your ribs bangers and mash warmed us right up.  Served with a little onion gravy, just like they do in those London pubs, it was the perfect lunch for the chilly day.

Next time we’ll give their Shepherd’s Pie a try.

Delaney’s is open every day for lunch. Even in January. Corner of Jackson and Washington Streets. Now you know.
