This Victorian town has a year round population of just a few thousand but becomes a hub of activity during the summer months. You'll find some gorgeous Victorian type "summer cottages" as well as large, new beach homes that will accommodate 20 nicely. But there also are smaller rentals. If you want to park the car and forget it for the whole week, this is the place to do it. Shopping and restaurants are within walking distance. Good rule of thumb: the closer to the beach, the more expensive.

Cape May Point is on the southernmost point of land in New Jersey. The beaches, although not as wide as in Cape May, have lovely, natural dunes. Cape May Point State Park and the Lighthouse are nearby. There's a Martha's Vineyard kind of feel to the place. It's quieter - there are no restaurants or shops in Cape May Point, aside from one small general store/sandwich shop. Birders congregate here in spring and fall for Cape May's incredible bird migration.

Just north of the Cape May Canal, beach communities like Cape May Beach and Townbank have become popular with families looking for a quieter, less expensive vacation alternative. Most of these rentals are within a one to two block walk to Delaware Bay's scenic beaches - the sun sets right over the bay! And Cape May's dining and shopping are just 5 to 10 minutes away.
