Cape May Weddings

Cape May, NJ - It's no mystery why so many couples want to tie the knot in Cape May.
Consider the setting: gorgeous beaches and Victorian charm combined with
beautiful sunsets and great food!
You could say "I do" on the beach while the sun sets over the
ocean. Then retreat to a local hotel or restaurant for a memorable wedding
feast.
Or, if your wedding is smaller, you can do both wedding and reception
at a charming Cape May inn or restaurant.
There are also picture perfect churches and chapels in the area.
Popular wedding sites in and around Cape
May:
- 2nd Ave. Pavilion, overlooking the beach - one
of the best spots in Cape May for gazing at the ocean morning, noon or
night.
- Sunset Beach, near Cape May Point
- famous for its fabulous sunsets. However, if you want to get married
there during the summer, Kate Smith will be singing in the background
and you'll have a few dozen more people at your wedding. (There's a nightly
flag lowering ceremony on Sunset Beach.)
- Cape May Point State Park Hawk watch Platform The views from the platform are among the best anywhere - marshes to
the left and the ocean to the right with real dunes! You get the ocean
views without sand in your wedding shoes.
- The Victorian Gazebo, at Lafayette and Decatur
streets - the "bandstand." It's an in town choice, very old fashioned looking, in a quaint, small
town sort of way.
- Harbor View Park, at Texas Ave. Three white pavilions sit on the edge of Cape May harbor. It's a perfect setting for maritime types who want to get married while gazing at a flotilla of fishing boats.
There's a $25 fee for the use of the sites, if there are over 20 guests. There's also a $25.00 administration fee. You can only reserve the
spots for a half hour. No alcohol or receptions are allowed in these public areas and you'll
have to get permission from the Cape May Mayor's office ahead of time for the wedding.
The Mayor even officiates at some weddings, but you'll have to make those plans well in advance of the big day.
