Lima Bean Festival

Everyone loves the West Cape May Lima Bean Festival..

Luscious Lima Bean Soup, Lima Bean Chili and Barbecued Limas are among the items usually on the menu in this annual, October Festival. (Check Cape May Events Highlights to find the date this year.)

Food..as long as its a lima bean...is what this festival is all about.

It started as a way of celebrating the local lima bean harvest in West Cape May. Limas are are no longer teh big bumper crop they used to be in the area, but the lima bean refuses to die.

The lima bean motif now shows up on baseball hats, bird houses and even pottery.

One of the festival traditons is the crowning of a Lima Bean Queen and King.

The honorary King and Queen of all things lima ride in the town's annual Christmas Parade, another West Cape May tradition.
