2008 West Cape May Christmas Parade
Cape May, NJ - Whether your favorite was the tree made out of recycled plastic bottles or Santa's glitzy new sleigh, West Cape May's annual Christmas parade never fails to light up the night.
If you stood along the parade route Saturday night, you saw reminders that this was indeed Christmas at the seashore. Several groups brought their boats to the party, including the Coast Guard..
And two onlookers set up beach umbrellas on Broadway, to protect from the early evening drizzle.
In addition to local marching bands, the Philadelphia Mummers got a chance to show off this year's costumes for the last time, before their big January 1 Mummers Parade.
There was dancing in the street and, of course, fire trucks blazing with Christmas lights.
Locals who lined the parade route along Broadway, Perry St. and Carpenter's Lane looked for folks they knew on the many floats sponsored by businesses and groups ranging from the Cape May Tennis club to several local churches.
And was that a Blue Pig sitting with Santa on one float?
If you missed this year's spectacle, make sure to mark your calendar for the first Saturday of December 2009. The parade steps off in West Cape May at 5PM sharp.
