West Cape May Christmas Parade 2009

Cape May, NJ —Old Man Winter tried and failed to keep the annual West Cape May Christmas Parade from its appointed rounds. The blustery rains made Saturday night a wash out, much to the dismay of folks who had traveled here for the event.

But the King and Queen and seemingly every fire engine in Cape May County were on hand the following night, a chilly Sunday evening, with a warm welcome.

It seemed as though there were even more Mummers bands this year - from the Durning String Band to the Kensington String Band.

The Civil Air Patrol came down to earth with its float.

And of course local school kids danced and sang and performed all along the parade route, just like they do every year.
