Wildwood Crest Polar Plunge 2007
The sixth annual Polar Plunge for Andrew brought out almost as many participants as spectators.
Despite brisk sea breezes and a very chilly ocean, the polar plungers stripped to their bathing suits and made a mad dash to the sea, as per usual.
This is the sixth year in a row that local residents have raised money for scholarships to honor Andrew Alameno. Alameno, a former Wildwood Crest lifeguard, was killed in the World Trade Center on 9-11.
The annual fundraising plunge has also inspired similar events in Wildwood and in Cape May.
The Polar Plunge for Andrew is held every year on the first Saturday of March.
