New Jersey Vets hold 85th Convention in Wildwood

WILDWOOD, N.J. – Right on the heels of the D-Day celebrations in France, the New Jersey Veterans of Foreign Wars gather in Wildwood from June 14 through 19 for their 85th annual convention.

Opening ceremonies will be held Wednesday June 16 at the Wildwood Convention Center at 4501 Boardwalk.

The highlight of the veterans' week in Wildwood comes Saturday, with the annual VFW parade.

The Parade starts at 1:30PM on 21st Avenue in North Wildwood and heads south along Atlantic Avenue to Andrew Avenue in Wildwood.

Color guard units, musical groups, floats and drum majors and majorettes will all compete for trophies.

Awards will be handed out Saturday evening at the Wildwood Convention Center, before the official closing of the VFW convention.

Evening activities for the week include:

  • Thursday June 17, 7PM - Concert by the Andre and Cirell Revue, a comedy and musical act.
  • Don Anthony and Elvis impersonator Michael O’Connor. The concert is open to the public. Tickets are $18 per person and may be purchased at the door.
