The Cape May Bird Observatory (CMBO) offers many guided walks at Belleplain during the spring -- 3-hour birding trips that meet at 7:30 a.m. every Thursday and Saturday through May (except not on May 15 and 22, due to CMBO special events), and a "Back Trails of Belleplain" program on Monday mornings through May 24, also 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. The nearby Peaslee Wildlife Management Area is visited by a program every Wednesday morning through May, also 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. All of these walks meet at the Belleplain State Forest Field Office, which is just off Rt. 550 west of Woodbine in northern Cape May County. No advanced registrations are taken; just meet the leaders at the office parking area. Cost is $10 per person, discounted to $6 for members of CMBO or the parent organization, the New Jersey Audubon Society.
